This program will include some pre-recorded material to watch on your own time. Material is best viewed before each session.
Whether you have just begun practicing or have been coming to your mat for a while, this program is designed specifically to enrich and empower your practice through a deeper dive into your body breath, and mind thru the lens of yoga.
We will explore many aspects of the practice through:
Lively Discussion and journaling
- Discussions will include; the ancient origins of yoga, including the Yoga Sutras (the guide to why and how to use the path of yoga to live a more meaningful life)
Understanding the power of pranayama (breath work)
- Yoga begins as a breathing practice. Prana (life force) + Yama (to gain control) = Pranayama (controlled breathing)
Taking creatively sequenced classes
- We will use the vinyasa practice to cleanse the body and mind toward a more pure experience
A deep dive into the “anatomy of the asanas” with Joe Miller
- Each pose (asana) has important alignments but, more important, might require different tweaks/adjustments for each person. Poses are not one size fits all.
The importance of regular movement and meditation
- By committing to a regular practice, sometimes referred to as moving meditation, you may experience some of the many benefits of this practice including becoming more flexible in body and mind, the ability to reduce stress, and improve your overall health.
- A regular meditation practice will increase focus and concentration, and improve self-awareness and self-confidence.
- Additionally, a regular yoga practice can help cultivate a sense of inner peace and joy, as well as a connection to the spiritual or divine.
What you will walk away with:
- a deeper connection to yourself
- how to set realistic intentions
- how to know what class is right for you.
- how taking several different classes will help to cultivate a feeling of overall peace and balance
- an enriched connection to your community
